Hi my name is Victoria I am a senior at Conant High school and for my informed action I have been doing civic mapping. I got introduced to TeenMaptavists from my teacher who helped me learn about what it is, and what it does. Basically civic mapping is when you have multiple people look over maps and help by adding things such as buildings to a map to help quicker solve issues that are unmapped. From doing multiple different maps, whether that be to help with food security or gender inequality issues throughout the world, getting to understand how something as simple as me mapping a building can make a difference encourages me to want to help and stay active in my community or others around the world.
One that I personally think connects to my SDG goal is the one we are currently working on in California to help with food security. For my senior project, this connects to my civic engagement goal because I am trying to help with poverty in my community and now I get to help with food security issues in an entirely different state than my own which I think is a very unique experience. Overall I learned that there is no excuse to not get involved in helping out communities whether it’s your own or even far away. So I was to encourage anyone reading this to get involved and make a difference with TeenMaptavists.
