"February 13th was our second Teen Maptivists meeting at Coronado High School! We played Worldle as an icebreaker, and then discussed how to create an account with OpenStreetMap. There were a couple of informational videos that we watched about OSM and starting the iD Editor walkthrough for OpenStreetMap that were incredibly helpful in getting started!

As a club, spending time getting to know each other through a game like Worldle was really engaging, and we had fun competing to see who found the answer first (it was El Salvador). Hopefully by developing a positive and connected community within TeenMaptivists here at Coronado we can encourage more students from our high school to join!
In regards to the OSM portion of our meeting, after registering my account with the site I finished the Walkthrough and began exploring my neighborhood. It was fascinating to be able to observe the level of detail you can record with OSM--even the solar panels on my house had been mapped! After learning about OpenStreetMap and its applications throughout the world--whether it be for humanitarian aid or simply to have a detailed record of the community--I cannot wait to begin mapping in my own community."
