Monthly Module Overview
Monthly Module
Each month, the executive committee will put together a module that centralizes around a core theme in humanitarian mapping.
Organized Mapathon
The organized mapathon will have a pre-selected mapping task and a pre-recorded guest speaker interview. During a chapter's organized mapathon, the elected student officials are responsible for carrying out the mapathon, with assistance from their chapter advisor. All the resources for the organized mapathon can be found on the Modules page.
Local Mapathon
After the organized map-a-thon, elected student officials are tasked with organizing and executing a local mapathon or mapping activity for their school's chapter. We suggest that students organize an activity that relates to that month's theme. Additional resources on the types of activities that may be planned and how to plan a successful mapathon are included on the Beginner Resources Page.
National Mapathon
Once a semester, the executive committee will organize a national mapathon. This mapathon will be synchronous (ie all chapter members will join an online webinar to meet, hear a live guest speaker, and map together). The national mapathon will take the place of the organized mapathon, so it will be held at an arranged time and date during the second week of the month.
