The unique challenges that urban centers face is that they face many issues involving transportation and urban sprawl. The transportation issues for urban centers is a result of many issues but in both developed and developing countries it’s mostly a result of the city not having the transportation systems it needs. This can be from the city not being very walkable or not having many transportation systems it needs like tram and bus or if they do only have one of them that is insufficient for what it needs to do. Finally there is the issue of urban sprawl. This particular issue is prevalent in developing and developed cities with them both spreading the city out into the surrounding areas instead of condensing the space they do have to not waste space.
Each one of these challenges can be solved through mapping. The issues involving transportation can be solved through mapping areas that either don’t receive enough support with trams and buses not going through there enough. Another possible solution is to map the areas most congested with traffic and find easy to divert the traffic from that area. A possible solution for urban sprawl would be to find areas within the city that are less densely populated than the rest and push for initiatives that increase the density there or through finding areas within the city that are not being used and increase domestic development there without building out of the city.
