Hello, I'm Aidai. During my time at Conant High School, Ms. Serrano introduced us to a tool called OpenStreetMap (OSM). Every Friday, we gathered in the computer lab, where Ms. Serrano taught us about it. With her guidance, we learned to use OSM to map buildings and explore different areas of the world.
Ms. Serrano's interest in OSM was evident, and it caught our attention. Using OSM, we could add buildings to the map and see them on the computer screen. It felt like solving a puzzle, while better understanding more about our surroundings.
A notable aspect of OSM was its inclusivity. It was a collaborative effort, with people from
around the world contributing to the map by sharing details about their communities.
Contributing buildings to the map made us feel like we were part of a larger project, connecting with people from various places.
Thanks to Ms. Serrano's instruction, I gained a solid understanding of mapping concepts. Even now, I appreciate using OSM to explore new places and expand my knowledge of geography. Mapping buildings has given me a different perspective on the work we live in, helping me see it in a new light.
