From the Classroom to Global Impact

Mihir V.

I’m Mihir, a senior at Conant High School. Before joining TeenMaptivists, I was not aware of

the potential for change I could make just by contributing to civic mapping from my own home or my high school. I am slowly becoming more aware of the impact that these mapping sessions have towards improving society and vulnerable groups. In knowing this, my interest in contributing has skyrocketed.

As of today, I have participated in mapping for a number of causes, including mapping for mobile homes in Arizona, USA, and for women’s safety in Mexico City. Our teacher - Ms Serrano - motivates us to contribute by bringing donuts for our class during our sessions, which keeps us focused and engaged, and makes the sessions always enjoyable.

Even after graduation, I hope to contribute to society and the less fortunate by helping others

throughout the world through the TeenMaptivists program.

I have also never heard of team maptivists until this year. I enjoy going because I like helping people and I love computer science.

The AGS TeenMaptivists initiative is made possible through a generous grant from the Henry Luce Foundation.
